Abstract

Outfitted with state-of-the art telecommunications centers and systems for data acquisition and diagnostics, the latest 'intelligent' buildings are able to function essentially automatically, with little need for manual override. An evaluation is presented of various buildings across the United States which function essentially automatically with little need for manual override. Further, the HVAC, fire, internal security, energy management, and interior transport systems are fully or partially integrated to reduce redundant wiring and electromechanical equipment. This ensures that all the building's components respond and adjust collectively to changing conditions of occupancy, electrical load, and climate.
