Abstract

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology is chosen because of the unique ID on each tag that can be used to identify and validate users by matching it to the account that has been registered in the database. On the other hand, RFID is a relatively inexpensive technology and is not a tool that can stand alone but RFID will be very useful if it is developed into a whole system by implementing various components. The problem of this research is how to make a room security system using RFID to limit someone's access rights when he wants to enter a room such as a laboratory and other important rooms by involving various actors in the authorization. Authorization is given to someone who really has access to a particular room through a centralized room access control system. The user's identity card is used as a tool to authenticate when accessing a room using RFID technology. The research method was conducted using one of the approaches of the System Development Life Cycle method, which is the waterfall method. This research consisted of several stages: system requirements analysis, design, and implementation. The results of this study showed that the room security system is expected to be used as a room access control by involving various actors in granting room access and monitoring the number of users who access a room centrally.
