We present a model to describe linguistic patterns regarding their textual contexts. The description of contexts takes into account all the information about text structure and contents. The model is an algebra that manipulates arbitrary regions of text. We show how to use the model to describe linguistic patterns and contextual rules in order to identify semantic information among parts of text.
