POSIÇÃO ESTRATIGRÁFICA DOS EVAPORITOS DA BACIA DE SERGIPE - ALAGOAS

Abstract

Palynological studies carried out in saliferous sequence of the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin in northeastern Brazil, confinn that the evaporites have been deposited in two distinct sedimenta ry cycles. The flr st o ne, Paripueira Evaporites, was deposited during the Ea rly and Middle Alagoas (loca l stage) and, the seco nd one, the Ibura Evaporítes, during the Late Alagoas. These cyc les we re previously recognized by means of lith ologlcal and stratigraphical studíes. On the african Atlantic margln, evaporites contemporaneous with the Paripueira Evaporites have not ye t been de tec ted.
