Abstract

In wireless sensor networks (WSN) the reliability of the system can be increased by providing several paths from the source node to the destination node and by sending the same packet through each of them (the algorithm is known as multipath routing). Using this technique, the traffic increases significantly. In this paper, we analyze the combination between a new multipath routing mechanism and a datasplitting scheme that results in an efficient solution for achieving high delivery ratios while keeping the traffic at a low value. Simulation results are presented in order to characterize the performances of the algorithm. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2004.
