Abstract

Adult females from a greenhouse infestation laid eggs through Parafilm into 3% sucrose solution. Eggs were incubated on wet filter paper. Larvae were fed on leaf discs. Prepupae and pupae also developed on the leaf discs. All stages are visible and accessible and only the adults need to be handled. At 27°C, Hercinothrips femoralis took 19 days to develop from oviposition to adult emergence. Copyright © 1971, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
