Abstract

This study used eye-tracking technology to do research on the effect of mechanical drawings’ different marked way on browse and search efficiency. Forty participants were randomly divided into two groups and assigned to perform visual browse and search tasks on mechanical drawings that are marked by text and digital. It was found that firstly, the browse efficiency of mechanical drawings that are marked by text is higher than marked by digital; Secondly, the search efficiency of mechanical drawings that marked by text is higher than marked by digital; Thirdly, the satisfaction of mechanical drawings that are marked by digital is higher than marked by text. The results of study have practical meaning for professionals to design drawings.
