Abstract

In early 2007, ‘subprime mortgage’ was a technical term used by economists and financial experts. Two years later, talk of the ‘credit crunch’ and economic crisis is impossible to avoid. Triggered by the mortgage crisis in the USA, the global financial crisis has reached unprecedented dimensions. While the exact implications of the financial crisis are difficult to predict, it seems clear that the reach of the crisis is unmatched
