The SPIF-A project consists on developing an entirely new and innovative machine for incremental sheet metal forming. It is mostly a team effort aiming to prove the concept, and covers various subjects from structural analysis to automation and control but also, kinematics, among others. This work focuses on machine development, namely on defining the platform's kinematics and devising its first position control system, as well as implementing a force measuring system. The referred system is a fuzzy logic controller implemented via software on a real time target machine, that receives movement instructions from an operator station which interprets G-code. © 2015 Springer International Publishing.
