Abstract

This review focuses on the use of phase transfer catalysis for the chemical modification of polymers which already contain reactive groups. The author discusses the choice of the reaction conditions, reactions on chloromethyl substituted polystyrene, reactions on polymeric sulfonium or phosphonium salts, chemical modification of poly(vinyl halides), chemical modification by nucleophilic displacements on miscellaneous polymers and chemical modification of nucleophilic polymers.
