Abstract

Mechanisms to simulate the formation of nitrous acid (HONO), an important OH radical source in the atmosphere, have been incorporated into numerical models. The results from the model simulations of HONO formation are compared with field measurements of HONO and conclusions are drawn regarding HONO formation mechanisms in the atmosphere and their representation in models. © Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht 2013.
