At present, there are two main magnesium smelting methods: electrolytic method and reduction method. Compared with the electrolytic magnesium smelting process, the Pidgeon process has the advantages of simple and mature process flow, small investment, short construction period, multiple heat sources, good magnesium quality, low power consumption, and good utilization of coal, natural gas, heavy oil, gas and so on.
