Abstract

In this paper we discuss the potential of cloud computing to deliver services for the study of disasters and provide solutions for mitigation of the effects. Our investigation is focused on cloud services based on data mining techniques and nature inspired heuristics. By estimating the evolution of a disaster or a complex phenomenon that can produce disasters, based on history of similar events, data mining can help to find the best decision to mitigate the effects. Nature inspired heuristics could be useful for finding solutions for influencing the evolution of such events and simulation of defense against adverse effects, when the change of the evolution is not possible.
