Abstract

This study aims to determine the conflict management of merhant from Madura in Surabaya. Conflict management is divided into six conflict management styles, namely withdrawing, accommodating, coercing, compromising, collaborating, and solving problems. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method with a collective case study approach. The subjects of this study were merchant from Madura. Methods of collecting data using interviews. Informants and subjects were selected using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using Miles and Hubberman models. The validity of the data using time triangulation. The results of this study indicate the findings of the six most dominant conflict management styles such as accommodative and problem solving. Research shows that all subjects before communicating with the interlocutor seek information about their nature and habits first, set boundaries between what to say or not and still adhere to health protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, to solve problems during a conflict, all subjects look for the root of the problem that occurs, make decisions calmly, find solutions together, ask for help from others to explain the problems that occur.
