The practice education reform is an important part of professional development and quality projects of university running. It has a very important role for the cultivation of creative thinking and practice ability. The research status of practice teaching in the undergraduate stage is summarized and it introduces the details of practice teaching systems of materials speciality in domestic universities. The suggestions and proposed measures of improving the practice teaching system were put forward and the reforming objectives of the practical teaching system reform were proposed. It suggested that the modular management, segmenting assessment, skills competition modes can be implemented in practice teaching. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
