Abstract

We describe a new technique for synthesizing high-power few-cycle pulses by coherent superposition of multiple highly-nondegenerate cascaded four-wave mixing pulses. The cascaded process was characterized with broadband cross-correlation frequency-resolved optical gating. The resulting octave-spanning spectrum allows for the generation of near-singlecycle 2.2 fs visible-UV pulses without the need of complex phase control.
