We summarize our three research projects related to software configuration management and discuss three challenges for the future research in software configuration management. The three projects that we discuss are dynamic service composition from service components, extending service components with multiple classes of service and mechanisms for their manipulation, and dynamic evolution of network management software. The three challenges to software configuration management research that we are interested in are: I) managing dynamism and run-time change, 2) integration of software configuration management with other management areas and domains, and 3) management of Web Service compositions. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.
