Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine Acacia nilotica (L.)Willd.ex Del release cutting effect on species composition and quality of savannah. This study was conducted using minimum plot size-vegetation which was determined by species area curve. The result showed that there were differences between univaded and invaded A. nilotica's savannah. The species composition of uninvaded savannah was 38 species consisted of grass, shrub, and seedling. The invaded savannah comprised of 13 spesies, consisted of 2 species grass and 11 species others. The value of community similarity index was 38.38%, showing the community was differrent. Dominancy index of A. nilotica's invaded savannah was higher than univaded one, thus the diversity index was higher. The community of univaded savannah was more settled than that of invaded one. The total biomass of univaded savannah was higher than that of invaded one (1,067.5-2,756.25 kg h-1 and 422.5-1,000 kg h-1).
