Abstract

Brain metastases are the most common intracranial tumors, and their incidence is rising. By definition, these tumors originate from tissues outside the central nervous system and spread secondarily to the brain. This chapter looks at the epidemiology of these tumors, with a focus on new developments in surgical, medical, and radiation treatment. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2006.
