In this paper, the laboratory tests of Sound Transmission Loss (STL) of movable double-leaf partition walls are present. Three sets of sample partition walls, with different configuration, are employed; and all tests were carried out under the guidance of ISO140-1 and 3 standards. The results shown that bigger air gap, increase frame's damping and reducing frame's stiffness are benefit to the improvement in walls' acoustic performance. It was also demonstrated that if movable partition walls are mounted in similar manors to the actual construction in laboratory tests, their STL are much worse than that of the counterpart drywalls. © 2008 Springer-Verlag London Limited.
