Abstract

A case with the giant liver cell adenoma was reported. The patient was an apparently healthy 23-year-old female with no history of drug intake. Physical examination revealed no abnormalities except for the presence of a large mass at the epigastrium. Ultrasonogram, CT and MRI revealed large mass in the left hepatic lobe. Angiographic finding was compatible with liver cell adenoma, with capsular arteries. Liver scintigram showed cold spot in the same area. The surgical specimen showed large dark red tumor measuring 22×20×12 cm. The tumor was composed of cords and sheets of well differentiated clear hepatocyte and these mostly resembled to normal hepatocyte histologically. Only 53 cases with liver cell adenoma have been reported in Japanese literature till now, and the large one in the left lobe such as over 21cm in diameter was reported only this case. © 1995, The Japan Society of Hepatology.
