The material for perpendicular recording contains 31∼60 at.% rare earth elements R. R comprises Nd plus Pr >70%, balance Y, La, Ce, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er and Yb. The remaining component of the magnetic material is Fe. The anisotropic coeff. of the material Ku is >2.5 × 106 erg/mL. The material may also contain <10% of Ni, Zr, Nb, V, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Bi, Al, Si, Pb, Ge, Sn and Hf. It has Curie point 70∼250°, satn. magnetization >450 emu/mL and anisotropic coeff. > (2.5∼7) × 106 erg/mL. [on SciFinder(R)]
