A rare case of primary osteosarcoma of the mandible is presented. The clinical features, roentgenography, histopathology and prognosis are discussed. The tumor being highly malignant, there is no radical cure, yet the treatment of choice is an early excision followed by radiotherapy. It is fatal in a very high percentage of cases irrespective of the form of treatment employed. When metastases occur, spread to the lungs is the rule.
