Abstract

introduces the volume by situating the key terms and motivations of this project: “Latinx,” “migration,” “religion,” and the “Bible.” By looking at Latinxs and migration in this current moment, concerns with geopolitical power differences, national boundaries, and imperial histories come into focus. Furthermore, the introductory chapter argues for understanding both religion at large and the Christian Bible in particular as phenomena produced by and implicated in human migrations. In this regard, the Christian Bible is presented as a collection of texts produced by migrants, engaged by migrants, but also implicated in the creation of the borders and power structures that migrants must cross.
