This chapter details how an intersectionality conceptual framework serves to situate individuals' experiences within marriage relationships as a function of their connections to dimensions of the larger sociocultural context including the roles of race/ethnicity and class. The author argues for attention to both sex differences and within-sex gender differences to best understand how and under what conditions marriage has implications for dimensions of health.
