Abstract

This article outlines the state of recordkeeping across the Commonwealth government and the National Archives of Australia s response to it. It describes a range of initiatives developed by the Archives to help agencies improve their management of corporate information in the electronic era, including that subset that constitutes the official ‘federal record’. These initiatives have involved extensive collaboration with other information professionals in the public sector, industry and the academic world. © 2000 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
