Abstract

The core of real-time operational control of public transit is compiling dynamic timetables. Considering the practical need of transfer time, this paper designs a new strategy for developing public transit timetables based on transfer time window: Firstly, for single transfer stations, aiming at minimizing the waiting time of passengers both in buses and outside buses, stop orders and dwell time are designed based on the degree of importance of transfer. Secondly, optimization model of regional public transit timetables is established and the model is the basis for optimization of public transit timetables. Thirdly, the model is solved by using genetic algorithm. Finally, practical case is given to verify the performance of the model.
