Abstract

A practical way to reduce energy consumption is to use traditional construction methods and materials. Persian architecture has a long history of constructing energy-efficient and comfortable buildings for the human and has created sustainable cities. Hygrothermal analysis of a building in Yazd, a city in the hot-dry region of Iran, was performed, and the possibility of use of adobe in modern construction for energy-efficient buildings was examined. The aim was to determine the indoor temperature and relative humidity and study its effect using or not using cooling and heating systems. For the simulation, the WUFI + code was used, where internal temperature and relative humidity were determined. Results showed that the use of traditional materials had a considerable effect on reducing internal temperature and humidity fluctuations.
