During the past few years, mobile phones and other handheld devices have gone from only handling dull text-based menu systems to being able to render high-quality three-dimensional graphics at high frame rates. Computer graphics hardware acceleration and rendering techniques have improved significantly in recent years. This paper reviews the state of mobile 3Dgraphics, focusing on the research of raster system. It also discusses technical and practical challenges. Finally, implement the fixed pipeline raster system on the FPGA platform, the results show that the system is able to complete the rendering of complex graphics. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
