The new construction of the photoelectrochemical cell with a higher efficiency of hydrogen production and storage is discussed. It is first proposed to use metal-hydride electrode as a cathode and GaAs electrode modified by Pt as a photoanode in the cell for water splitting under action of sunlight. The operation of the cell has been investigated, and promising results have been obtained.
