Abstract

Extensive studies have been undertaken to assess the influence of industrial and transport emissions on the contents and compositions of storage proteins in the seeds of tree species - acacia (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) and horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) - in the Dnepropetrovsk area. These investigations have shown that specificity and variability in the component compositions of proteins in the studied plant varieties as well as the alterations in the types of distribution of their electrophoretic spectra and frequencies of their occurrence depend on the levels and nature of pollution suffered by the urban environment. © Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht 2014.
