Abstract

Adenosine 3',5’-cyclic monophosphate (cyclic AMP) phosphodiesterase inhibition by phenolic constituents of mulberry tree was studied. The structure-inhibitory activity relationships were studied in 56 derivatives of prenylflavonoids, prenylchalcones and Diels-Alder type adducts. Diels-Alder type adducts of chalcones and dehydroprenylflavonoids or dehydroprenyl-2-arylbenzofurans differed from prenylflavonoids and prenylchalcones in the inhibitory activity and inhibitory type (determined by means of Dixon plots). © 1984, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
