Abstract

A transposon tagging strategy is described, based on modified Ds elements, and aimed at tagging genes located in regions of the genome where map based cloning is virtually impossible; for example, near centromeres or in sub-telomeric regions. The launching vectors constructed have the Ds elements and the transposase gene within the same T-DNA. Two categories of Ds elements are used: Ds trap and Ds activation.
