Abstract

A real-time application has been developed to enable immersive stereoscopic visualisation of the results of marine simulation models. Static datasets from external applications or dynamic output from real-time models may be interactively examined in a simulated underwater environment. The current work describes how the visualisation framework has been coupled to a morphogenetic model of coral growth and a biomechanical model of a fish. Coral structures have been modelled using the techniques developed by Kaandorp, and artificial fish have been constructed using methods dapted from the work of Tu. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.
