In higher vocational education, the assessments include not only the students' professional knowledge, but also their professional qualities. In this paper, the approach of process assessment is applied in higher vocational education to assess students' knowledge and improve their practical skills. The paper researched on the content of process assessment, assessment features, the implementation, problems encountered in the process assessment and other aspects in higher vocational education. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
