Abstract

The NATO PO-WAVES project has been in progress in Portugal since the end of 1987. One of the objectives is the establishment of a method for determining the long wave climate at the entrance of a harbour, for which a vast measuring field campaign of short and long waves, as well as the observation of moored ships, is starting to be carried out at Sines harbour. Results will allow a better understanding of the role of wave grouping in the occurrence of long waves in harbours and their effects on moored ship behaviour. (A)
