Abstract

review and assess critically the literature focusing on key personality trait correlates of intelligence / aims at being illustrative rather than comprehensive, concentrating on a select number of personality variables that have been investigated in relation to intelligence and seem to be of some theoretical interest and/or practical importance / [discuss] the relationship between personality and intelligence as assessed by conventional psychometric measures negative affectivity [anxiety and test anxiety, anger and aggression] / coping, adjustment, and intelligence [stress and coping styles, mental health] / extraversion and dealing with novelty in the environment [creativity, curiosity] / motivation [achievement motivation, attributions and perceived control] / belief systems of self and others [self-concept and efficacy, authoritarianism, paranormal belief and superstitiousness, social desirability]
