The authors present a new realization of a quantum computer (QC) based on a set of N atoms representing qubits (quantum gates), communicating via their interaction with a single quantized mode of a high-Q optical cavity. Errors related to this model are analyzed in comparison with a previous proposal for QC based on N cold ions moving in a linear trap.
