Abstract

This paper proposes a multi-agent based integrated health monitoring system (IHMS) which integrates wireless sensor networks, public communication networks, multi-agent and web service technologies for elderly people at home. This system has been designed as five service platforms which are home based service platform, community based service platform, doctor healthy service platform, caregiver service platform and data center platform. All these service platforms are implemented through different agent roles which may be deliberate agents or reactive agents. In this paper, the system architecture and relate implementation approaches are introduced. The proposed IHMS is expected to provide the elderly a mobile, ubiquitous, and personalized health care and to improve the elderly people's life quality. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH.
