Abstract

The research presents a diagnostic work about the information treatment of the main Spanish generalist cybermedia in the dissemination of science news. For this, 200 science news extracted from the digital version of the newspapers El País, La Vanguardia, El Periódico and El Mundo, between January and May 2018 are analyzed, with the objective of knowing the use and exploitation of web 2.0 tools and the type of information sources that are used. The study concludes that although the use of the 2.0 tools should be widely incorporated by the cybermedia, in the production of science news there is still a predominance of the text and there is little use of multimedia resources, which would serve to explain the information in a more attractive and clear way for the user when using elements such as image and sound. Similarly, the need for science to have greater relevance in the headlines of newspapers, as it is given to political, economic and sports issues.
