Abstract

Reviews the literature and attempts to improve the methods and equations in determining these relationships for whole communities, with a view to estimating total photosynthesis. A comparison is made of data from a stand of Zelkova serrata (taking account of the different photosynthetic activity of sun- and shade-leaves) and from a stand of annual plants (Celosia cristata).
