Abstract

Space-borne microwave radiometer has great potential in the field of space remote sensing and the observation of the earth, while it has bad spatial resolution because of the limitation of the antenna size. We choose Backus-Gilbert Inversion Method that used to enhance the resolution of FY-3 MWRI. The paper introduces the basic theory of BGI method and simulates the potential to improve the resolution of the 18.7 GHz and 23.8 GHz, then decide the optimum tuning parameter γ. Researching the actual brightness temperature of MWRI of the sea coast of South China and Kara Sea coastal areas in northern Russia. There is more rich information appearing in the resolved images, such as extension of the land, outline of the bay and the small island, they become clearer. The experiments verify BGI to improve the spatial resolution of MWRI.
