Abstract

The e-District project is a comprehensive and web enabled service portal have been designed by Government of India. E-District project is acting as an electronic gateway into the Government’s portfolio of services for common citizens. The e-District portal has redefined the process of public services by catering the services at common citizen’s door step at any time. The Government of India is implementing e-District project for each state in India by hosting the e-District project in each State Data Center, which is leading huge amount of cost due to building individual host environment for each state e-District project. In this study, authors have proposed a cost effective private cloud based architecture in e-District project with the help of multiple virtual machine, which would be created from high end physical server machine. The configuration and number of physical machine is subject to current capacity plan. Apart from cost, this proposed architecture would help to share common services among different state e-District projects seamlessly. Also, it will provide better security management, better control in maintenance, flexibility for making disaster recovery plan.
