Abstract

The study about continuing higher education (CHE) in Germany shows findings on three levels: on the system level, the institutional level and the programme level. On the system level, it reveals issues related to the specific Länder. It gives in-depth information about the CHE framework and the role of CHE. On the institutional level, it presents information about organisational structures and management of CHE. In addition to that, it deals with questions about quality assurance, marketing, funding and future prospects. On the programme level it reveals information about the different volumes of courses, the course structures, formal aspects of continuing education and partnerships to other institutions/organisations. Along with that, is presents the current situation and future prospects for CHE and shows some specific profiles of CHE institutions. © 2009 Springer Netherlands.
