Atherosclerotic peripheral arterial disease is a nearly pandemic condition that has the potential to result in limb or even loss of life. Venous disease, likewise, can result in significant morbidity and mortality. The issue is further compounded by the underdiagnosis and undertreatment of vascular disease. Cardiovascular specialists must take an active role in the care of patients with vascular disease and to optimize outcomes. Cardiovascular specialists must also possess a good foundation of knowledge about the natural history, clinical presentation risk factors, and treatment options. Progressive, multidisciplinary approach ensures finest healthcare delivery to patients with vascular disease.
