Abstract

This chapter outlines the need for full patient access to their healthcare records and reports on hypothetical and real-life UK-based scenarios. These serve to illustrate the importance of supporting patients, clinicians and managers to understand how personal health information can be shared across a health and social care setting and to promote best practice by combining local expertise with national and international experience and knowledge.
