Abstract

This essay discusses the contemporary relevance of the concept of the culture industry (Kulturindustrie) in the critical theory of Teodor W. Adorno, aiming to show that the limitations imposed on present debate derive more from the non-dialectical basis of those who would restrict it than from the strength of Frankfurt School theorizing.
