Abstract

The pioneering works of Dixon-Lewis [2.1], Warnatz [2.2], and Westbrook and Dryer [2.3] have demonstrated the usefulness of studying flame kinetics through numerical simulation of the flame structure and the subsequent comparison of the calculated results with experimental data. The comparison can be conducted either at the global level of the bulk flame responses such as the laminar burnig velocities, s L , and the extinction stretched rates, or at the detailed level which includes not only the bulk flame responses but also the temperature and species profiles.
