Abstract

The hydroxylated Ti6A14V alloy was modified by self-assembled method and the prepared samples were irradiated by ultraviolet radiation/ozone photochemical process. The surfaces of the samples were characerized by contact angle measuring equipment and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The tribological properties of Ti6A14V alloy modified by FOTS SAMs and the effect of ultraviolet radiation/ozone photochemical process were explored by micro-tribometer. The experimental results showed that combining Piranha solution with ultraviolet radiation/ozone photochemical process can improve the hydroxylation of Ti6A14V surface. Ti6A14V alloy modified by FOTS SAMs showed a good tribological property, in which the friction coefficient was smaller than the Ti6A14V alloy and the anti-wear property was also improved. 5 min of UV radiation could improve friction properties of FOTS SAMs modified Ti6A14V alloy and retain good anti-wear properties. The friction coefficient between Si3N4 ball and modified Ti6A14V alloy increased with load increasing and sliding velocity increasing. The wear durability decreased with load increasing and sliding velocity increasing.
