Abstract

This paper defines urban regeneration and renewal in the Indian context and focuses on dynamics of implementation of urban built environment projects in India. Discussion is with respect to three ongoing schemes planned under program management approach. The paper explores alignment of Indian urban regeneration and renewal initiatives with respect to the program management guidelines of PMI (USA). It is studied that though there is an attempt to plan these schemes or missions as programs, implementation is primarily project based. The analysis and recommendations would be relevant for the policy makers, planners, and implementing organizations. 1.
